A $170 box set sounds like a lot until you count the discs. Severin, in particular, prints the disc count in the product name, which makes it possible to compare sets on price per disc. We did that for the big horror box sets on Severin's US store, and added the best-value sets from Arrow and Vinegar Syndrome.

For comparison, a single Severin Blu-ray was $24 at the median on the same store, and a 4K $38. The big compendiums cost about half that per disc. All of these were below their list price on Severin's store, which is normal there (Severin US lists almost everything below SRP).

Which Severin set to start with
All the Haunts Be Ours is the cheapest per disc and the biggest, with 15 Blu-rays of folk horror. If gothic horror is more your thing, Danza Macabra Vol. Two is one of only two sets in the table with 4K discs, and it still comes in under $12 a disc. Christopher Lee fans get two Eurocrypt sets, both under $14 a disc.
Diabolik stocks some of these too. On 20 October it had The Incredibly Strange Films of Ray Dennis Steckler at $149.99 and The Joko Anwar Collection at $64.99, both a little under Severin's price, while the first Eurocrypt set was $109.99 there against $105 direct.

Severin also sells some sets as "DAMAGED" at a lower price. The Andy Milligan set was $80 as a damaged copy against $125 new, though the damaged one was sold out when we checked.
Arrow: sets in the Shocktober sale
Arrow doesn't print disc counts in its product names, so we can't do the per-disc math. Several of its sets were cut hard for Shocktober, though:

- He Came from the Swamp: The William Grefé Collection, £25 on Arrow UK (list £74.99)

Several bigger Arrow sets, including the Hellraiser Quartet of Torment, the Chucky Collection and Phantasm: The Complete Collection, were sold out on our last check.

Vinegar Syndrome: themed volumes
VS sells multi-film volumes in series, and they're priced well under their SRP every day. The ones in stock on 20 October included:

VS's January and July subscriber weeks are where its boxes get the biggest cuts, according to the Blu-ray.com sales megathread. If a VS set isn't urgent, those are the weeks to watch.
When to buy a box set
Box sets are where waiting pays most, because the cash discount on a $150 set is bigger than on a $25 disc. Severin's midyear sale in June 2026 ran a separate box set sale day (27 June), and Black Friday is a regular sale for Severin, Arrow and VS. The sale calendar has the dates.
